Dakhlacamp is a brand-new hotel opened since November 2017 and located 28km north of Dakhla. Created on the initiative of a Moroccan family, our kitesurf camp welcomes you in an authentic and unique place located between desert and ocean. You will be accommodated in a bungalow and wake up every morning with a magnificent view of the Dakhla lagoon. A real playground for kitesurfers and windsurfers from all over the world, this lagoon of almost 250 km2 will dazzle you with its beauty and biodiversity (sea birds and many fish).
The Imlili wetland is about 100 km south of the city of Dakhla towards Mauritania. The road is perfectly straight across desert plains and some ghost villages.
There doesn't seem to be any sign to indicate which track to take, he goes there at random. It's hard to imagine that in such an arid area there could be water holes.
As soon as we put our feet in the water, they are happy to tickle our feet and get rid of our dead skin. It surprises! They are quite voracious little ones, nothing to do with pedicure fish from Thai beauty salons.
Dramatic cliffs flowing into the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean greet us, before revealing this wild cove with white sand and crystal clear waters. Puerto Rico Beach is a favorite spot for migratory birds, and its rock formations and deserted lighthouse give it the air of the Galapagos Islands.
An excursion to Dakhla is not complete without a visit to the famous white dune. The 20-minute track by the bay offers extraordinary wild landscapes that strangely remind us of the lunar landscapes of the altiplano in South America. It's magic !
A white sand dune shaped by the wind rises like that in the middle of the bay forming its own lagoon with miles and a tint of blue and green.
From the top of the white dune, the perfectly clear 360 ° view reveals the majesty of the site. Flamingos roam the sandbanks while thousands of fiddler crabs pile up at the water's edge. Completely surrounded by water at high tide, the white dune is only accessible by boat or "downwind" kite, an unforgettable experience for experienced kitesurfers.
Located 8 km from Dakhla, the ostrich farm is owned by an industrialist from the region who, by passion, wants to relocate them in semi-freedom. With a variant size between 2 and 3 meters, the population of 460 ostriches that inhabit the park, built in 2005, is partitioned by age. The older ones are separated from the public by a fence while the little thumbs are parked in habitats in the form of a greenhouse.
